A new website

For a business, trust or club that either has nothing, or has something a mate put together in 2014.

We start with what the business actually does and who needs to find it. Then I write the pages, build them, and put them somewhere private for you to look at before anyone else does.

What's included

• Design and build, written by hand rather than assembled in a page builder
• Copy help. If writing about your own business makes you want to lie down, I can draft it and you correct me
• Works properly on a phone. Most of your visitors are on one
• Set up to be found locally, because "plumber Stratford" is worth more to you than "plumber" ever will be
• Built to be readable by people with poor eyesight, on old phones, on slow connections. This is a standard I hold on every build, not an extra
• Your first year of changes included

A rebuild

More common than a new site, and usually more urgent than people think.

The signs: it looks wrong on a phone. It's slow. You can't edit it yourself, or you can and the changes don't show up. You're getting security warnings you don't understand. The person who built it has moved on, or moved overseas, or just stopped answering.

I've done a few of these. Wix to a hand-built site. WordPress from a theme nobody supports any more, onto one I wrote. A site where the owner's own edits had been invisible for months because two layers of caching were sitting in front of it, quietly wasting her time.

Rebuilds are quoted the same way as new sites, and the old site stays up until the new one is ready.

Hosting, domain and email

One yearly invoice covering hosting, your domain name, the SSL certificate that puts the padlock in the address bar, and email on your own domain.

Daily backups. Domains on auto-renew so they don't lapse. Security handled without you having to think about it.

Looking after it afterwards

Changes, new pages, new photos, a price list swapped out, an award added, a staff member who's left.

Email or ring. Small jobs are often no charge. Anything bigger is $120 + GST an hour, charged in the time it takes, and I'll tell you roughly what that is before I start.

Your first year after launch is included in the build fee.
